Nature protection is one of the backbones of Zelena akcija/FoE Croatia. For many years we have been monitoring and advocating a better legislative framework in the field of protection of various components of the environment and nature, implementing projects for the concrete protection of certain areas and conducting campaigns against harmful projects.

On Friday, February 26th, the final conference of the "Partners for Nature" project, funded through the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Program, was held. Due to epidemiological measures necessitated by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the conference was organized in an online format.

From 21st to 25th October we organized a study visit to Switzerland, as part of the "Partners for Nature" project.

No new dams, protect the rivers, said activists from 14 countries (Albania, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Austria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Ukraine), and 24 organisations that gathered at the island of Šolta, Croatia, in the Solar Academy educational centre of Zelena akcija – Friends of the Earth Croatia, from 8th to 13th July.

At a press conference held at Hotel Bosna representatives of environmental NGOs called on the Government of Republic of Srpska to meaningfully protect Sutjeska National park, a unique pearl of the European landscape that is threatened by planned hydropower plants

Yesterday the consultancy firms Oikon and Geonatura presented a new nature impact assessment study for the environmentally and economically risky Ombla hydropower plant in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The study had been commissioned by project promoter HEP at the request of the Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection and was met with a full hall of members of the public.
