PRESS RELEASE -The Pan-European Biological and Landscape Diversity Strategy was endorsed at the third Pan-European Conferences of Ministers of the Environment "Environment for Europe" held in Sofia in October 1995, it concerns more than 50 countries of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. The PEBLDS is a European response to support the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
NEWS -The Convention was opened for signature at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992. It entered into force on 29 December 1993 and currently has 188 Parties.
NEWS -One important element of the implementation of the Pan-European Biological and Landscapes Diversity Strategy is the establishment of the Pan-European Ecological Network. The participating states have agreed that the network should be established by 2005.
NEWS -Black/white list of food manufacturers in Croatia relating to their position towards genetically modified organisms has been completed.
NEWS -Zagreb, 1st october 2003. - To mark the passing of the new Environmental Protection Law, Green Action is calling on consumers to boycott products which contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and farmers to boycott GMO seed which would, in practice, result in Croatia becoming a "GMO free zone".
