Invitation to the South Eastern Europe Regional NGO Seminar on Sustainable Energy and Transport “Dirty energy in South Eastern Europe’’
Zelena akcija – Friends of the Earth Croatia is happy to invite you to apply for the Regional NGO seminar “Dirty Energy in South Eastern Europe”, to be held from July 08th till July 12th 2013 in the Solar Academy at Island of Šolta, near Split, in Croatia (arrival on 7th July, departure on 13th July).
The seminar is organized as a part of the EU funded IPA CSF project Advocacy NGOs networks for sustainable use of energy and natural resources in the Western Balkans and Turkey – ETNAR IPA-CSF-2012/306-573.
The purpose of this 5 days regional seminar is to provide basic information on developments of dirty energy in SEE but also to look into alternatives in the area of sustainable energy and transport and solutions to climate change. Participants of the seminar will have opportunity to participate in many lectures held by international experts. There will also be space for planning and developing national campaigns, that may be potentially funded by small grants schemes in the later stage of this project.
We will focus on the following the topics:
POLITICS
- International Climate politics
- Sustainable energy and transport issues in EU and SEE countries and overview of the SEE energy politics
DIRTY ENERGY AND HOW TO COMBAT THEM
- Mapping of the dirty energy projects and campaigns against dirty energy in the SEE region
- Which legal tools we can use in campaigns against dirty energy?
- Public advocacy tools
ALTERNATIVES
- What are energy cooperatives and how to promote them in SEE?
Seminar will be held in Regional Educational Centre for Sustainable Energy, which we are developing in an ex-military facility “Vela straža” on the Island Šolta, and level of comfort is similar to the hostel accommodation. Food will be vegetarian. Participants’ attendance will be fully funded by the seminar organizers - transport, accommodation and food from July 8th – July 12th 2013. (We are also covering food and accommodation on July 07th, for those who are arriving day before beginning of the seminar, but the travel costs will be refunded after return home, upon receiving of the receipts.).
The working language of the seminar will be English, so attendees should have sufficient knowledge in English. You can also bring and disseminate relevant educational and promotional materials from your organization. Eligible NGOs are from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, and Turkey. We are expecting 25 participants on the seminar and we are open for more than 1 participant from each organization. Feel free to forward this invitation to your partner organizations.
