After five years of campaigning against the construction of the harmful coal power plant 'Plomin C', we achieved a big victory! The Minister of Economy, Tomislav Panenić, has stated that the realisation of this project has been canceled. We are sure that after convincing arguments against the construction and the circumstances that occurred, the Government had no other choice but to stop 'Plomin C'.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Skopje, Pljevlja, Tuzla and other cities across the Western Balkans in December to demand action on chronic air pollution plaguing their communities. A new briefing paper shows that to a large degree these recurring smog incidents are the result of national authorities' protracted inaction. Yet, air quality could be dramatically improved if two EU directives are transposed into the Energy Community Treaty, according to two legal analyses also released today.

On February 17th, activists formed a human chain in front of the coal power plant in Plomin in Croatia and hanged a banner saying: "The price of coal? Our lives".

The Franciscan Secular Order and the S.O.S. Adriatic coalition held a joint press conference on June 19th 2015 in Zagreb where they presented the conclusions of the encyclical in which Pope Francis calls for urgent action to combat climate change, and sent a message to the Croatian Government to withdraw from the harmful project of exploration and exploitation of oil in the Adriatic Sea.

Today (15th May 2015) the S.O.S. Adriatic coalition held a press conference in Opatija, Croatia, where Greenpeace International, Friends of the Earth International and the Global Campaign to Demand Climate Justice gave support to the campaign against exploration and exploitation of oil in the Adriatic Sea.
PRIOPĆENJE -
Today (10.4.2014.) the Green action, Greenpeace and Green Istria activists have protested in front of the Croatian government, demanding for the construction of Plomin C thermal power plant operating on imported coal, to be abolished. By setting up a 6 meters high model of the human lungs, they have pointed about the negative health effects such power plant would have.
