From 12th – 19th July 2015, Zelena akcija/FoE Croatia held a first summer camp “School of Sustainability” on island Solta, as part of the EU project „School of Sustainability in the European Year of Development 2015 and beyond“ which runs for 3 years and it gathers 23 partners from European Union, especially Friends of the Earth network which is the largest network of environmental organisations in the world.
Summer camp „School of Sustainabilty“ gathered 31 participants from entire Croatia which are more or less experienced in the field of environmental protection. The idea was to introduce topics of environment, activism, sustainability as well as climate change and social justice and give space for discussion, reflection and common work on practical solutions, to students, activists and youth.
„School of Sustainability“ held in Solar academy on the island of Solta proved to be a hit among the participants because it gave space for learning, sharing ideas and viewpoints through many discussion as film screenings as well as space for making friendships, creativity, openness for different opinions, practical work and responsible behaviour towards nature.
Thus we are looking forward to further summer camp activities that we plan to organise on Solta’s Solar Academy in the next 2 years.
