Zagreb, 19. november 2003. - Green Action Vice-President Toni Vidan yesterday held the last of this year's ecological seminars in the NGO's headquarters.
The topic of the last lecture was (not incidentally) "Eco-activism: public campaigning in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development". This concluded the course of education and motivation of future ecological activists. This process was begun by the NGO's president Jagoda Munic more than a month ago with the topic on "Basic Environmental protection and sustainable development". After a series of nine lectures in which many ecological topics were examined, the participants were able to see the theoretical parts and the problems of eco-activism. But this is just the tip of the iceberg.
In order to change something, one must act. Therefore Mr. Vidan appealed to those present: "The ecological crisis is such that it is very likely that your children or your grandchildren will ask you one day if you were an eco-activist when you were young. Therefore, act today because tomorrow could be too late".
He added that eco-activism is one of the most attractive ways for young people to become socially engaged.
The most enthusiastic Eco-seminar attendees were rewarded with an interesting workshop on successful planning for eco-campaigning.
Eco-seminars have attracted a considerable number of young people whose effort was essential for the smooth running of our NGO in recent years, and we hope that a new generation of ecologically-conscious youth will bring new force to the Croatian ecological movement: There are certainly many problems to be taken care of.
