Swap party! vol. 29 @Zelena akcija

Zelena akcija / FoE Croatia invites you to another edition of the "Swap Party," which will be held on Wednesday, March 26th, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Zelena akcija (Frankopanska 1, Zagreb).

Be part of the solution instead of the problem! Get rid of clothes you no longer want to wear and adopt new ones in a pleasant and friendly environment. Instead of buying and throwing away, choose to swap. By organizing swap events, we promote values such as (self-)sustainability, a repair and reuse culture, and actively oppose consumerism and throwaway culture.

What is a Swap Party?

A "Swap Party" (translated: clothes exchange party) is essentially a gathering where people come together to exchange clothes, shoes, fashion accessories, and similar items—all with the goal of getting rid of things they no longer use and replacing them with new ones. By exchanging old items, we give them a new life while becoming owners of new-to-us pieces.

What will it look like?

  • Bring a maximum of 10 pieces of clean, well-kept winter clothing or shoes (preferably not wrinkled).
  • Upon arrival at Zelena akcija, bring us your items. We will inspect them, sort them by size, and display them in a visible area.
  • For each item you bring, you will receive 1 token, which you can use to choose new items. We will take turns selecting to ensure everyone has an equal chance to find something for themselves.

Note: DO NOT bring underwear, undershirts, socks, or tights unless they have never been worn. Also, we are not currently accepting children's clothing, shoes, or toys.

7 Reasons to Go to a Swap Party!

  • Satisfy your need for something new, save money, and reduce your ecological footprint!
  • The production of new clothing depletes Earth's limited resources.
  • More than half of all textiles are made from fossil fuels, such as polyester.
  • Every new clothing purchase fuels the fast fashion industry, which has severe environmental and human rights consequences.
  • New clothes often contain chemicals, dyes, and microplastic particles that harm the soil, air, and water—and impact the health of workers who make them.
  • Working conditions in the fast fashion industry are inhumane and violate human, labor, and women's rights.
  • Ethically and environmentally friendly new clothing can be expensive and inaccessible to many.
  • Let’s nurture a culture of exchange—not waste and consumerism!

All items that remain unclaimed will be donated to the social cooperative Humana in Zagreb.
