Spring is coming: film screening & discussion

"Spring is Coming" is a short film that puts the current crisis into context, talks about the relationship between fossil gas and social injustice, while revealing some of the main drivers of inflation, the climate crisis and geopolitical conflicts. The screening will be followed by a discussion that aims to identify common areas of struggle and opportunities for cooperation between social and environmental movements.

The crises we face - energy, climate, housing, the cost of living crisis, war - are all connected. It is time to come together around our different but connected struggles for social and climate justice. Zelena akcija/FoE Croatia went into this direction by organising a climate protest on Earth Day, and continued with an action where we submitted demands for urgent action on climate change to the Croatian Government and the Croatian Parliament. Now is the time to deepen and expand cooperation between movements.

The title of the film "Spring is coming" was chosen to indicate the urgency of action regarding the energy and climate crisis and timely preparation for the coming winters, in terms of moving away from the use of fossil fuels such as gas for heating and investing in the right solutions - renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

The event is co-organised by FoE Croatia, Right to the City, the Center for Peace Studies and the Croatian Youth Network, whose representatives will also take part in the discussion after the film.

The author of the film "Spring is Coming" is the European collective Gastivists, which supports initiatives in the fight against new gas infrastructure, facilitates the flow of information between non-governmental organisations and local initiatives, and helps build an international movement to stop fossil gas.
