Zagreb: EU Capital of trash!
Green Action / FoE Croatia activists organized a protest performance just before a City hall meeting on 18th February, saying Zagreb is undoubtedly the worst European capital regarding waste management!
PRIOPĆENJE -Since the beginning of its work, Zelena akcija/FoE Croatia has been conducting campaigns to stop investments in harmful plants that encourage unsustainable waste management, such as waste incinerators, waste incineration in cement plants, inadequate waste disposal, waste management centers with harmful technologies, etc.

PRIOPĆENJE -The 'Zero Waste Croatia' coalition, made up of 54 environmental NGOs lead by Zelena akcija / Friends of the Earth Croatia has today submitted joint comments on the draft national Waste Management Plan 2015-2021. The groups are calling on the Ministry of Environmental Protection to give up the concept of mixing and incinerating waste and instead to base the plan on reducing, re-using and recycling waste. Such measures, based on the zero waste concept, would be in line with the waste hierarchy, protect the environment, and avoid harming people's health.
PRIOPĆENJE -We invite citizens and institutions to submit comments on the proposal of the Waste Management Plan of the Republic of Croatian, located at a public hearing until Tuesday, October 20 In order to facilitate sending comments, we have prepared comments with which all interested parties can form their own or simply forward the comments to the Green Action mail Ministry pgo@mzoip.hr. Proposal Plan is a continuation of the bad and senseless idea of mixing and burning of waste that harm the environment and increase monthly bills for waste.
PRIOPĆENJE -We demand the rejection of the proposed Zagreb Waste Management Plan and call for a new plan based on waste prevention and recycling, with no incineration.
PRIOPĆENJE -Zagreb, Croatia - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has today been criticised for its continued involvement in the controversial Zagreb municipal waste incinerator project, expected to cost up to EUR 290 million, in spite of the recent rejection of the project's Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
PRIOPĆENJE -During the local election campaigns in May 2005 Green Action carried out a street theatre performance to draw attention to its objections to the planned municipal waste incinerator, emphasising the unsolved issue of what to do with the toxic ash produced by the plant.
