Plomin 1 coal plant must not be resurrected

The Plomin 1 coal plant, on Croatia’s Istrian coast, is already 50 years old. In 2017 it closed due to a fire. Yet, the Croatian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy looks set to allow Plomin 1’s owner, HEP, to bring it back from the dead without even an environmental impact assessment.

First hearing held in the case against the Ministry of Environmental Protection regarding the Krk LNG terminal

The first hearing for the lawsuit that Zelena akcija/FoE Croatia and Zelena Istra filed against the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy's decision that the floating LNG terminal on Krk Island is environmentally acceptable was held yesterday (26.11.2018.) at the Administrative Court in Rijeka.

The performance was part of the world-wide Day of Action against coal, organized in over 50 countries. This performance illustrated future, but also current, impacts of climate change in Croatia, and the rest of the world.
