Appeal from Dubrovnik: New oil platforms threaten the Adriatic

A press conference was held in Dubrovnik today for the international tour of the Italian ship Goletta Verde, organised by One Adriatic, a network of environmental organisations fighting for an oil-free Adriatic.

The coalition 'One Adria' supported the referendum in Italy against the drilling in the Adriatic Sea.

After the Italian government banned any new oil and gas platforms at a distance of 12 miles of the coastline, islands and protected areas in the sea, Italian citizens will be deciding this Sunday, April 17 on a referendum whether to remove all existing platforms within the specified distance with the expiry of their concessions.

Coal is leading us into climate chaos!

Today Green Action (Friends of the Earth Croatia) activists performed a protest performance entitled „Climate Chaos“, in Zagreb. The performance was part of the world-wide Day of Action against coal, organized in over 50 countries. This performance illustrated future, but also current, impacts of climate change in Croatia, and the rest of the world.

It was held at the Solar Academy on island of Solta, a regional training center for sustainable development and advocacy, beeing developed in the former army barracks.

Citizens and NGO’s send a message from Dubrovnik – Stop HEP’s devastation of Ombla!

Green Action welcomes the opportunity to comment on the draft EBRD Country Strategy (CS) for Croatia, and thanks the EBRD for the recent consultation workshop organised in Zagreb. Despite the progress made by Croatia towards EU Accession, we believe that there are a number of crucial shortcomings that need to be addressed in the area of environment, and that the EBRD can and must send a strong message to the Croatian government regarding these in its Country Strategy and through its investments.
