Freshwater

Freshwater Programme was established in 2004. As many Green Action activities and projects deal with water and water-ecosystem related topics, it was decided to unite all of them in one, new, programme.
Since then, programme's activities have been based on following issues:

• problem of sediment extraction from the River Drava;
• promoting the need to keep the rivers as natural as possible;
• protecting the species that live beside rivers;
• and promoting legal protection of valuable river ecosystems.

In addition, the programme has been working on legislative issues, European Directives and by-laws related to water protection.
The programme actively collaborates with Danube Environmental Forum, an international NGO platform, and many national and international NGOs and other organizations.
